Representatives of European universities gather in Istanbul this week, invited by the European University Association. Turkish academics, purged and exiled for resisting the oppression in Turkey, feel betrayed. Our author is one of them.
The author was a professor in the field of social sciences. He was among the 1128 academics who signed the petition “We will not be a party to this crime!” in 2016. The signatories are collectively known as Academics for Peace. For security reasons the author publishes anonymously.
