Palestinian women play a vital role in the Palestinian civil society and are advocates for a free and just society. Nevertheless, women, especially young Palestinian women are underrepresented in the decision-making positions in politics, economics, and civil society. Furthermore, Palestinian women face obstacles from the patriarchal society, the Israeli occupation, and the dire economic situation in Palestine.
Under the title “Female activism in Palestine”, a panel discussion organised in cooperation with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, dis:orient e.V. and Alsharq will host on the 11th of October five women activists from Palestine to discuss women and human rights activism and the challenges they face in their seek for social justice and freedom.
This panel gives the audience the opportunity to engage in dialog with the young Palestinian women activists who are coming from four different flashpoint areas in Palestine, namely Gaza, Yatta, Bethlehem, and Nablus.
The event will take place in Oyoun venue in Neukölln. Due to the limited seating capacity, pre-registration is required.
