Muhammad al-Kashef is a Berlin-based human rights lawyer, consultant researcher and advocate with focus on migration control and border security. He is a member of Watch-The-Med Alarm-Phone, co-funder of “Refugees’ Solidarity Movement” in Alexandria (Egypt) and a specialist in refugee’s sociopolitical and economical situation in WANA. He is also an ex-staff member of EIPR (The Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights). There, he worked as a campaigner and field researcher, monitoring and documenting state violence and refugees’ detention conditions across Egypt’s north coast and delta region, besides the trajectories of irregular migration from North African countries through the Mediterranean, including documenting smuggling and human trafficking activities in Egypt since 2013.
